REF Activities

You'll find us at the Circle Diner, 441 Post Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824 (203) 255-9177, from 9:30 on, most months on the first Friday. Click on the link to the left for full detalis.


Our monthly drop-in breakfasts are usually held on the first Friday of the month. Sometimes, due to holidays, they are scheduled for the second Friday. Drop-in breakfasts at the Circle Diner are: Nov. 1, 2019. No diner breakfast in December. Instead, Holiday Social at Tashua Knolls on Dec. 11 (See below).  In 2020, diner dates are as follows:  Jan. 3, Feb. 7, Mar. 6, Apr. 3, May 1, Jul. 3, Aug. 7,(Sept. our Welcome Back Breakfast TBA), Oct. 2, Nov. 6.  Breakfasts are always subject to weather conditions. Members use their judgment regarding whether or not they choose to brave the elements to come out for a cozy breakfast and some friendly conversation. Hi REF and FEA Friends,

We will be heading back to our favorite place, Tashua Knolls, on Wednesday, Dec 11, for some holiday cheer and another chance to socialize and "make merry". All retirees AND current FPS Staff Members are invited to this party. See last year's photos:

Entertainmant: Again we will be treated to lilting holiday melodies by Milt Jacoby on keyboard AND we will enjoy a performance by the Women's Harmony quartet, the Ripchords (an offshoot of the Women's Harmony Chorus, Harmony on the Sound).

Cost: $20 (REF is subsidizing the cost, wishing all a "Happy Holiday")

Saturday, April 4, 2020-History Day, at Sacred Heart University.  Some of us volunteer to serve as judges. Our co-president, Tony Andrade, heads up this event which involves hundreds of middle and high school students from Fairfield County.






Effective January 2018, T & A Tours will be the agent for GBRTA trips. All GBRTA Trips are open to REF members and their families and friends.  Just give the name,"Retired Educators of Fairfield" when you contact T&A tours, and you will be seated with other REF members. T & A has been a family-owned business since 1997, and is committed to provide personal attention to every customer and to all details.

To book a trip with T & A:

  • Call their toll-free phone number, 1-800-967-1993, and identify yourself as a member of the Retired Educators of Fairfield (or GBRTA if you are a member and wish to sit with that group).
  • Their representative will answer any of your questions and provide details regarding payment for the trip.
  • Two weeks before the trip, you will be sent written information including departure times.

There are two departure points in the GBRTA area:

Fairfield  -Exit 24 off I-95/ Kohl’s Store at Tunxis Hill Road & Villa Avenue 

Milford - Exit 40 off I-95 Commuter Lot/opposite Duchess Restaurant.
